For the kids, and the kid in you, nothing beats a treehouse. Did you know there are several treehouse hotels where you can actually spend the night, or several nights, in a treehouse? Well you can, and it's a fun and unique vacation experience for everyone.

There are treehouse hotels and resorts all over the world. The tropics and Africa, in particular, seems to be favorite spots for building treehouse hotels. But there are also several treehouse hotels here in the United States of America in case you don't want to travel around the world for your treehouse vacation.

One of the biggest and best of the treehouse resorts is located right here in my home state of Oregon, near the city of Cave Junction, Oregon, and very near the Oregon and California border.

This treehouse resort is called The Out' n' About Treesort, and it features not just one treehouse to rent but has several different treehouses that you can spend the night in for fairly reasonable prices.
They are open all year, unlike some treehouse hotels which are only open in the summer, and because the treehouse hotel stays are very popular you are limited to just a two night stay.

I have found treehouse hotels in nearly every state (see resources below for an online list called the Treehouse Guide, then look under accommodations once you get on the web site). So, just in case you aren't in Oregon, you won't have to come all the way west to stay in a treehouse on your next vacation.

Some excellent treehouse hotels are in Washington State, (Cedar Creek Treehouse at Mt. Rainier, which has been rated one of the five best treehouse hotels in the world!), and there is a great one in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and in Pennsylvania. I have even heard of a new one located in Brooklyn, New York, but was unable to find the address online. New Yorkers might find a treehouse vacation right in the city an adventure hard to beat!

If you want a new experience, or just to relax in a treehouse for the night, then by all means see if you can't locate a treehouse hotel near you. Start with The Treehouse Guide in the resources below, which lists quite a few, but don't stop there, not every treehouse resort is listed on the internet. Check your local Chamber of Commerce for unusual places to stay, including (possible) treehouses, for example. They might know of one. It's worth a search to locate a treehouse, because spending the night in a treehouse is an experience never to be forgotten.

Tips & Warnings

Some treehouse resorts offer activities like treehouse building, or living green, or nature hikes too, so make the most of this unique travel experience.
Watch the kids, and obey all the treehouse hotel's safety rules. Treehouses are off the ground, by their very nature, so plan accordingly.
